What does the Bible say about lust?
I was on a popular social media platform last week. Looking at a ‘post’ that was about porn use. Someone was sharing their testimony and as usual the online comments were interesting to read.
What saddened me was the number of comments that stated that ‘porn is ok in small amounts.’
I don’t know about you but I don’t want my daughters growing up to become porn stars. Nor do I want my sons to become porn stars. I’m not being judgemental. I admit that I was a heavy user of pornography. When I watched porn I minimised my involvement or addiction. I was not addicted. I was ‘liberated’ and I was making a free and conscious choice.
Two days after watching the clip discussed above I saw another online clip on the same platform. This was another testimony where Chad Bird freely admits that his behaviour was wrong based on the Bible’s message. It is a powerful message. A message that reinforces that lust is wrong (Job 31:1).
Lust is wrong. It goes against God’s will and plan for our lives. Porn is wrong for the same reasons. It too goes against God’s will and plan for our lives.
